Eversound helps people with hearing loss stay engaged in life, resulting in greater socialization and less isolation.
“Social isolation has been identified as being as big a threat to a person’s health as obesity and smoking,” says Rachel Kohl, VP of Programming. “Eversound helps those living with hearing loss stay connected to family and friends, increasing their socialization opportunities.”
JEA Senior Living has outfitted all of its communities with the Eversound wireless headphone system, which blocks or drowns out much of the background noise and sound distractions so people can watch movies and presentations and participate in other group activities. Thanks to this breakthrough technology, residents are more engaged in daily life and able to mitigate the social isolation that comes with hearing loss.
Systems like Eversound are particularly important as hearing loss affects 80% of older adults and only 20% of those who could benefit from a hearing aid use one.
“The really exciting thing about Eversound is that it helps residents in all JEA Senior Living communities, regardless of their level of care,” says Kohl. “This technology adds value to all living environments – retirement and independent living, assisted living and memory care. They are all seeing huge rewards.”
